- White Mountains National Recreation Area
- Enjoy almost any outdoor activity you can imagine in the White Mountains, just north of Fairbanks. From gold panning, hiking, rafting and fishing in the summer, to cross country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling in the winter. Camp overnight in a rustic public-use cabin, or make it a day trip!

- Just minutes north of Fairbanks, enjoy a leisurely lunch or dinner at Silver Gulch Brewing Co., the northernmost brewery in America. They offer great food with a unique Alaskan flavor, alongside some of the best beer in Alaska.

- Pioneer Park
- Enjoy one of Alaska's most unique dining experiences at the Alaska Salmon Bake all-you-can eat buffet, then stop in the Palace Saloon to enjoy an old fashioned variety show!
- Riverboat Discovery
- Enjoy an afternoon on the Tanana River with the Riverboat Discovery! See Susan Butcher's famous sled dogs, learn about a traditional Athabascan village, and much more.
- Midnight Sun Balloon Tours
- Enjoy the breathtaking landscapes of Interior Alaska from the peaceful vantage of Midnight Sun Balloon Tours' hot air balloons.
- El Dorado Gold Mine
- Learn about traditional gold mining techniques, tour a historic gold mine, and even try your hand at gold panning. Everyone is guaranteed to find gold!
- Alaskan Tails of the Trail
- Mary Shields has been living the storybook Alaskan dog mushing life for over 30 years. Visit with her, meet the dogs that make it all happen, and enjoy her "Tails of the Trail."
- Fly Denali
- Take a breathtaking flightseeing trip to Denali (Mt. McKinley), the tallest mountain in North America. You can fly over the peak, circle the entire mountain, or land on a glacier on the mountain itself!
- Denali National Park and Preserve
- A number of groups offer tours through Denali National Park during the summer, following different routes and offering different tour lengths. All of these tours offer unbeatable wildlife viewing opportunities, and amazing views of Mt. McKinley and the surrounding mountain range.
- UAF Large Animal Research Station
- Learn more about Alaska's native large animals, as you tour the University's caribou, muskoxen and reindeer enclosures. Open from Memorial Day through Labor Day (Last week of May through first week of September).
Winter Activities
- World Ice Art Championships
- Every March the world's best ice sculptors come to Fairbanks to compete in the World Ice Art Championships. This amazing artwork is not to be missed!
- PAWS for Adventure Dog Mushing
- Take a dog mushing lesson, go on a day-long dog mushing tour, or even do an overnight camping trip by dog sled! Enjoy a real Alaskan adventure with an experienced dog musher as your guide.
